FOR PARENTS

Safety at Brookhill

You're trusting us with your kid, and we don't take that lightly. Here's how we look after them, from the people we hire to the moment you pick them up.

What makes us different?

Every staff member is a former Brookhill camper.

They grew up here. They know what this place is about, and they know exactly how it feels to be a camper on night one.

Background checked.

Every staff member, state and federal.

Nurse on call 24/7.

All session long.

Two weeks of training.

For our all-summer staff, before campers arrive.

ID check at the gate.

Only authorized adults can pick up.

The people looking after your camper

Every staff member is a former Brookhill camper who understands the heart behind what we do. All staff pass state and federal background checks. Our all-summer staff also go through an extensive interview process, Child Protection Plan training, a code of conduct, and an intensive two-week staff training before the first camper arrives.

Health and medical care

A nurse is on call 24 hours a day, supported by our First Aid Team. If your camper ever needs advanced medical care, we'll call the guardians and the emergency contact listed on your camper's form, in order, until we reach someone.

Questions about your camper's health needs? Email firstaid@brookhillranch.com.

Food allergies

A gluten- and dairy-free alternative is offered at every meal. We don't have a gluten- or dairy-free kitchen and can't guarantee no cross-contamination. For more serious allergies, our First Aid Team can work out an arrangement with you, including dropping off food at Monday check-in.

Email firstaid@brookhillranch.com before your session so we can plan ahead.

Homesickness and first-time campers

Our Camp Moms are full-summer staff whose whole job is looking after first-time campers, homesick campers, and forgotten items. If this is your camper's first time, you can sign up for a Camp Mom phone call. She'll spend time with your camper, then call you on Wednesday to tell you how they're doing, who they've befriended, and what they're loving. You can meet the Camp Moms in the Hangout area at Monday check-in.

Secure pick-up

On pick-up day, gates open at 10:30 a.m. for ID check, and only vehicles with an authorized pick-up person are allowed through the gate. You choose who's authorized using a link in your pre-camp email, about three weeks before your session, and you'll receive a QR code at check-in. After that, changes can only be made by a parent or guardian calling the office at (501) 623-5983. If you need to pick up your camper before the final day, call or email the office and we'll coordinate it.

Phones and reaching your camper

For the safety of campers and staff, phones, iPads and tablets, smart watches, and cameras of any kind stay home during the session. If there's an emergency at home, call the office at (501) 623-5983 and a Camp Mom will get the message to your camper. During the week you can see how they're doing through the photos we post on SmugMug.

Cabins and privacy

Every cabin is air conditioned. Shower houses are separate from the cabins and have private showers and toilets. If a camper's clothes or bedding ever need special attention, our staff handle it carefully and discreetly.
